How to install custom maps/campaigns

Custom maps/campaigns are quite easy to install & remove. The most common way consists of 4 steps that are a “Peace of Cake!”- easy. Well ok, it’s really easy, as long as you follow these steps.

1. Go to this link – https://www.gamemaps.com/
   • Type ‘l4d’ into the search bar then click search. A menu of custom maps will be displayed for you to choose the one you want to play. Make sure it’s for L4D by checking at the bottom of each map box.
2. Download the Map
   • Click on the map name then click the green ‘download’ box.
3. Extract the File
   • Go to the downloaded folder on your computer and extract the files. You do this by right clicking on the folder and choosing ‘extract here’.
4. Move the .vpk file
   • You will now see a file ending with .vpk. Copy or cut that file and paste it into your addon folder.
     • On Windows your L4D-installation normally is located in c:\Program Files (X86)\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\

If L4d was running while you did above steps, you need to restart the game!
Then, if you create a lobby, click on ‘campaign’, then choose your custom map/campaign.
