How to prepare for an online support session

Anydeskfor the operation system you installed L4D on. - start
AnyDesk - Notice the numbers you see (below
946 950 426) – this is your.AnyDesk sessionID

- Prepare to have a phone call or
Steam Audio Chatwith me
It’s good to use a headset to have your hands free. - Start a audio chat with me via Steam Client

If you can’t use Steam voice chat, you can send me your telephone number and your AnyDesk sessionID via Steam Chat and I will call you.
After our call has started, I will send a request to your started AnyDesk online remote session between us.
AnyDeskwill pop up on your computer and ask you to accept or deny my request
(If you useAnyDeskfor the first time,AnyDeskwill force you to read and confirm a short text. Carefully read that!)
You have to accept my request to connect to your computer.
As soon as the support session has startet
- I will see your screen like you see it
- I will see, if you move your mouse, click something edit text
- I can control your mouse and keyboard
- I can access your files on the computer (AnyDesk asks you for confirmation first, mee too!)
The now opened AnyDesk Support Session will end, as soon one side closes it.

This online world is full of people that want to archive personal profit from you, your data, your money or other things you own. So yes, always be careful when it comes to open/execute files, follow links or expose login credentials!
Why do we need online remote support?
If your car is broken you man call a guy that can fix it. But via phone call this guy can not the broken car. The guy can’t touch it, so he needs to tell you every singe step. You then repair your car step by step. Meanwhile, if you make a mistake, the guy will not see it…. In the end your will spend hours and I guess the chance you repaired your car successfully is quite low.
Online Support Apps
There are many Apps out there someone could use to arrange online remote support. The most popular apps are thoose which are used in business to bussiness scenarios. Because companys have to pay for their commercial usage, the software is activly maintained and patched, which means that the vendor cares about security.
Why should I trust “AnyDesk”?
AnyDesk is one of the most used tools in the market.
- It is simple to use
- It is secure (in terms of IT)
- If supports any operatin system (I use it on Linux and Android too)
- It will not install itself, but you can do if you like
- It’s free for personal use
Can we use “Discord”, “TeamViewer”, “LogMeIn” …. instead of AnyDesk?
Most apps I don’t want to use, because they don’t apply to my private needs in security, data privacy or costs. Many of them are just too slow, too big, …. Thats why I concentrate on the “Market Leaders”. In my job I mostly use TeamViewer, for private stuff I use AnyDesk.
Why should I trust you?
Well, first: you don’t need to!
But in the end you have to trust me, if it comes to an online support session. Without the power of online remote support, it would be very difficult and time intensive to help you. This won’t satisfy me, nor you and it may end up with no solution.
Why do you offer your time for support?
Since 40 years I do stuff on computers for hobby. Since 30 years I do the same for income.
As a result of this I am supporting customer contacts, family and friends in almost any IT terms.
It may sound crazy but solving IT problems do satisfy me. 🙂
in my Job I manage and support DMS software projects (DMS = Document Management System). To fullfill my customer needs, I work every day on various remote systems that contain highly sensible customer data. Also, I use online support sessions, when customer users need product support.
Therefore Discretion and security is a must in my job.
